Hello Mr B.

Thank you for the link.

I have already seen it and other forums are already attacking it!

Personally, it looks visually impressive and I do like Ridley Scott films with or without historical errors.

One stand out for me is the recoil of the guns, something usually ignored by most.

Fingers crossed for some quality entertainment, twenty odd years since Gladiator!

Best wishes,

Chris

I've also seen the official trailer and I'm already looking forward to November. It looks like it will surpass Sergei Bondarchuk's 70s classic Waterloo.

Why doesn't that surprise me? Personally, I think I might just watch the film first and then decide if I like it. :xd:

It does look visually stunning, with some impressive looking battle scenes, and it seems to cover a whole lot more than I thought it might.

This really looks like something I might enjoy, if there are any historical inaccuracies, then I think spotting them will be just part of the fun.

I might take a look at TMP sometime to see what folks have found to whine about; should be a good afternoon's entertainment.

My club has a bunch of Napoleonic enthusiasts, so I guess I’ve got a few months to consider whether it would be better to go with the club and get the running commentary on what’s not right, or go by myself and remain uninfluenced by knowledge…

Thank you BB! I haven't been excited about the release of a movie since The Hobbit. I haven't been to a movie theatre since. I can see the complaints about the Sachsen ponds at Austerlitz; too many men falling in! Phoenix was great as Commodus and the joker and I think he'll play Napoleon well but you may have to adjust to his voice. He doesn't handle foreign accents terribly well. Anyways, looks marvelous and I've been eager to see what modern movie technology could do for a Napoleonic battle. Should be very impressive.
Eta: After watching the trailer several times in slow motion it looks like there's a bonanza of historical inaccuracies. Cavalry with sword in left hand anyone? I just want to see battles in the grand manner, forget the rest.
Cheers,
Bessiere

The trailer recently came up on my Youtube algorithm. My wife watched it with me and agreed she would come to the cinema with me once it's released...in return for me going with her to watch the new Barbie film. I think that's a pretty good trade!

Barbie, the toy of longago suffering at the hands of children.
Enjoy both movies or just fall asleep during one of them. BB
