The Figz 2017 workshop will be FOAMBUILDING.





It starts at 13:00 hours so even mr. Robert from France will not mis the beginning.
And it will not take as many hours as last year's tree building so the concentration curve will be suitable for MABO too.

Foam buildings it is for me! And there will be "vlaai" again this year!

Your vlaai can be at the middle of our foam blocks table. Don't eat the wrong piece.

I need a house for the tree of my wife

MABO and Peter, you can post a picture here, representing the kind of building you like to build. So I can think it over, collect the right kind of foam and prepare a little bit.

Dad do you need some pictures and supporting text for publicity at facebook/internet?

1/72 human figure sculpting would be great

Figure modelling sounds quite well.

Zed1 and Das Dirch I am sorry about this years' choice. We move figure sculpting to 2018 and there is a reason for that: Dad wants to invite 'Styrofoam Gott' Gerard Boom next year and there should not be two foam sessions in one day.

Yes, that sounds ok. Those have great masonry structures. Will these be 20th century houses?

Hey Mickey Mouse,

The pillbox is perfect of course because the structure of fine foam is much like miniature concrete. I will show you how to hollow out such pillbox, so you can have figures or equipment inside, if desired.

A 20th century Dutch house has two difficulties:
First of all the tiny bricks. Thats a lot of accurate work but with the finest kind of foam we will achieve a result thats acceptable for you I hope.
The second difficulty is the same as with MABO's Normandy house: how to make the modern window frames & styles. That can not be made in foam so additional material has to be used like wood, paperboard, plastic or pre fab windows&doors. Pressing the window frame into soft putty with a square tool is another option. But the workshop will be too short to demonstrate all of these techniques. But at least I can help you start that day.

The houses should fit to the history of the D-Day. So they do not need to have great masonry structures. In this part of Normandy the houses are plastered as well. Often greater stones are in the corners of the buildings.

Perhaps a ruin is perfect to start with? It doesn't requires much window frames, nor requires rooftiles.

Today also the figures arrived, so the reservations will be save!
I will put them in the small bags soon!
Then they will be ready for sale

Next weekend I will make a post on Facebook to promote the FOAMBUILDING workshop at FIGZ.
This year the first sunday of June is also a Holliday, and in Belgium there is a 2 days wargame event as well. So let's hope that won't work agains us...

Ohw and for the guys who want to buy a new T-shirt, please make a reservation so I can order them on time. No new design, but the famous white "Nappie" or the black "FIGZ too far"

A simplification of a two floored Dutch house will be fine to start with.
And that counts for Miss and Mr. MABO too:

Nono, we do a simplification of a Normandy house: I think the last picture is a good example of what all of us should make that day: A two floored rectangular house with two chimneys. Its pretty difficult to cut that out of one single block of foam and so its perfect for the learning process, even for myself.

Well that should not differ that much from the other houses. In fact that is a great subject: rough walls and primitive straw roofs. A perfect choice for a single foam block house.
