Mars Spanish Infantry (Later)

I found a picture of the new Mars release Spanish Infantry (Later) that might be of interest. It's taken from the back side of the box, with the usual painted examples Mars puts on their boxes.

With "Later" I presume they mean later 30YW, but as I think I mentioned last time this figure set was previewed, they might be usuable for the early wars of Louis XIV. The sculpting still have the Mars style that's not my favourite, but the possibility of painting miniatures for the early wars of Louis XIV might just convince me to buy a set (although I've promised myself not to buy any more Mars sets...)

These guys are more interesting for the 1660ies and 1670ies. A subject that nobody went in so far.

And I feel the same as you, not my favourite manufactor but maybe a start into a new period.

I agree with Jesse and Uwe. I thought they were 15mm figures when I saw them.
They remind me of the stumpy 25mm white metal figures of the 1980/90s etc eg Dixons.
Maybe they are in the "Mars style" to go with them or are based on white metal figures.

Hopefully the flash isn't as bad as the GNW Saxion infantry set. Took me a while to clean up one figure.

I think the choice of poses is acceptable as well; 12 poses with half of them musketeers, 2 are grenadiers and the rest specialty figures (although still 4 of each pose, so unecessary many specialty figures). Will be interesting to see what might come in the future. I just hope they keep on improving their sculpting.
