Wait a minute - the MAC Prussians run for approx. 8 € per set on Ebay.
These crowdfunded sets will run for 15 € each.
That's almost double prize.

So that's the new HaT price policy? Are you serious?

Because there are double the figures, so the cost per figure is about the same.

Sorry, 56 figures per box, so not quite double, but still almost the same cost per figure.

If (!) I've calculated well it's in my case (5 boxes and living in the EU) : €15,66 for one box of 56 figures.
That includes shipping.
Compare that with for example the old Hat Russian Opolchenie with 100 (hundred!) figures at my dealer: €11,95.

That is a very old set Marc, your not comparing apples with apples, a fair comparison would be sets being made now, like Caesars German sets for example 30-35 figures maybe for about £10 inc postage here in the UK. the world has changed over the last ten years.

Tom, sorry still not apples with apples, Strelets process is not the same, and here is the rub, resin moulds ware out, that is why Strelets sets are not usually re run, because the mould is worn out. Hat use steel moulds that are far more expensive to cut and make, the result is the moulds do not ware out and the set can be run for years to come, the two processes have a very different set up cost, so compare other steel mould users, like Zvezda, waterloo or Caesar and compare the cost per figure of their new sets to Hats, then you are making a like for like comparison.

You're probably right zulu's, though I pitty Hat has changed their formula of being the 'working class company' or simular words to discribe themselves.
One cannot deny that their prices have risen disproportionate.

.

I make it €19.16 with shipping (£16.32) ($20.03)per box. I don't want multiples as I'd not use the action figures. . I'm better off with metal

Marc, Hat of not increased the price of their figures in ten years at least, most sets are still at the original selling price, but there has been ten years of inflation , Hat have absorbed that, the current price of new sets reflects the current cost of making them and projected sales volumes. The simple truth is if we do not support the few manufacturers we have in the hobby we will end up with no new sets at all, we have to all intents and purposes lost most manufacturers listed on PSR lets not lose the handful we have left because we think they should still sell at 20th century prices in a 21st century market place.

FredG, few who want this set will buy one box, and the more you buy the cheaper they get, plus you get the bonus figures and if the Bonus Zulu command figures are anything to go by then anyone supporting the project is likely to be pretty happy.

Good luck to you Zulu. I'll wait until they arrive in the shops at £6 a box. Until then I can buy metal figures in the poses I want cheaper. That manufacturer seems to be able to cope without crowdfunding so a better bet for the future

If they were produced in a reasonable plastic then I'd be tempted. I only buy the rubbery HaT figures when I absolutely have to.

Will, years ago Hat asked us the customers what plastic we preferred, it was a vote by the buying public, and the soft plastic won by a good margin, it was us the buyers that wanted soft plastic, Hat just gave the majority what they wanted.

Just as food for thought, Waterloo 1815 New French Nappy sets , 28 figures for £7.99 at Hannants , that is the same price per figure as Hat`s Prussians, just saying.

Fred.

Are you aware that the marching and action figures are two separate sets (56 figures each). If you don't want the action figures you can just buy the marching set. there are two links at the bottom of the crowdfunding page, a paypal link for ordering the number of sets you want and a gmail address for informing HaT how many of each set you want (or don't want) in your order. The shipping fee is a one off per order not per box.

My apologies if I misread your post.

For my own part, I really like these figs and I voted for them to go into production on the HaT site so I'm inclined to buy them now rather than later even if they cost a bit more.
I tend to view sets in terms of the number of figures, and 56 figures is quite a large set, but HaT has told us that the cost of cutting the separate backpacks into the mould adds to the cost and these are actually 92 & 104 piece sets.

I will be paying a premium price here, I calculate a bit over $24AU per box or a bit less than $23 if I buy an extra box. That did seem to be very expensive but I took a look at the HaT Sumerian infantry that I bought from a local hobby shop just before Christmas, The price tag on the box says $25.50AU for this fairly old 92 piece set (fortunately they were reduced to clear and I got them for $19.95). If the Landwehr sets arrive in my LHS sometime in the future I suspect they might also cost $25+ so the crowd funding price is not so bad.

When these sets do get onto the open market there's no guarantee that my LHS will still be selling figures. If the crowdfunder is not supported the sets could be cancelled and I won't get them at all. The internet doomsayers are saying that the Ocker will drop to 50cents US.These are really nice figures. And, what's the alternative? I already have as many boxes of the Airfix set as I want, if I bought the Italeri giants it would be just to get the officers and I don't buy metal or resin.

So I think I'll be getting some of these while I can.

I am also interested in pledging for these sets. And the price is ok. But one should keep in mind that there will be no box. For me a box with a good picture on it is always important. HaT did a good job in the past.

But talking about HäT and their new way of producing their sets, maybe zulu`s 1000`s of em can explain what happen to Mr.Harris and the "old HäT-Company". It seems to me, that Harris sold it to a bigger business dealing with different kind of plastic products...? I am still wondering why nobody did not explain anything to the customers.
