Revell (Matchbox) - 1/76 British Paratroopers (Falkland War)

Posted by Francesco Giova on 01 Jan 2013, 11:04

Good news for some : Revell is re-issuing the old Matchbox P5009 NATO Paratroopers, which were in fact British Paratroopers:

plus new 1/72 vehicles: brand-new Sd.Kfz 7/1 mit VierlingsFLAK, Sd.Kfz 251/16 Ausf. C, T-90 and a re-issue of the old Sherman M4A1-76 mm (was it so needed ? :boink: )

The Paratroopers could be made as most of the British troop types in the Falklands War as they are (different beret colour etc) or with head swaps. 12 poses though is a bit limiting and a couple more in the Esci Nato set.
the afvs are good but
That Sherman should not be re-released. Do they not read reviews or do research at Revell?
Although the model is actually very well molded with adequate detail, and no flash or sinkmarks, it is a highly inaccurate kit. The dimensions are totally screwed up (according to Hunnicutt's Sherman - A History of the American Medium Tank). The hull scales out close to 1/76th, while some of the parts are much larger. The wheels for example actually scale out to 1/70th-----On the Way models

to catch the unwary?Good for the spares box?

That's great news about the Modern British paras. Will be keen for a set or two. The old Matchbox sets go for crazy amounts on eBay these days! I'm still waiting in hope for the A Call to Arms set to come out too.
