A kind of mish mash of extant knowledge of Irish troops (eg Durer and the Lough Henney helmet) c.14th to late 16th c. I suppose there is little else you can do. Why these are the Wars of the Roses I am not sure as most would be better suited to inter clan raids (creach) and border warfare in Ireland like the box front - brilliant idea, a bit different. The bright yellow is because several commentators in the 16th c remarked on galloglass saffron robes but they would have used readily available dyes and there would have been lots of variations. The use of chain mail, short spears, flighted large darts, etc is probably that these were better suited to border wars and raids (like the Reivers). Like the Reivers they were noted for light cavalry which are missing in the set. Galloglass and kerns are the identifiable types. The archer is yet another example
of how not to shoot a bow.
Not sure what Irish troops looked like in the Wars of the Roses (nobody does) but some could have been recruited from within the Pale so wouldn't have looked that different to English or Welsh troops.
For Irish troops or warriors of a lengthy period (forget what it says on the box) this set is a good start.

The O'Briens (of Thomond) captured sixteen score of luireacha ( mail shirts) in 1499 from the Butlers of Ormond. I wouldn't mind one now.
