Pegasus Hobbies - New German Fallschirmjager

Posted by closerlookbooks on 11 Feb 2013, 22:11

The last time I posted something on this forum it related to Pegasus Hobbies' New Russian figures. I was in the store the other day and Larry showed me some beautiful new German Fallschirmajager figures. Posted below is a photo of the sprue. The sprue is a shiny plastic and after a dozen photos, I could not seem to eliminate the shine. (I am not a photographer). So I cut some of the figures out and undercoated them gray—some black with a mist of gray for grayscaling. I think you will agree, they are beautifully sculpted. I know some of you will want to know when they will be available. I don't know, but even the first test shot (shown below) look exceptionally great, and there is not much flash on these either. Enjoy!!!

Pegasus seem to have chosen a wide period for these figures Crete, Tunisia, Italy and NW Europe. I would have preferred fewer figures buttoned down.
The Panzerfaust firing figure top left looks as if the weapon is too far forward. The Vorsicht applies to both ends of this weapon but it could just be the pic.

here's the preview of that set (from 2009!) on the panzer46 site:

I see a little excess plastic - I wonder why didn't they design the sprue with seperate arms like they have in the past?

So hopefully we'll see set #7280 "Germans in Russia" next (as in the next two years...)

This is a very nice surprise! Never thought Pegasus would make this set anymore.
Good thing Pegasus is still active behind the scenes.
Perhaps they also will make the 'Russians in Berlin' set too?
I'm also wondering what the size of this set will be, compatible with the Caesar set or the Italeri one?
Anyway, good news.

can't wait, they look terrific ! I really like the unbuttoned smock figures and think even the buttoned ones could be converted with some putty - in my view, can't have enough sloppy looking German paratroopers for that "on campaign" look

I will check with Pegasus Hobbies on dates. Here is another pic:

The details always stand out better when the figure is in your hands. Photos never do them justice. These figures are beautifully proportioned and detailed.

Based on the amount of mid to late war weapons (MG42, FG42, panzerschrek, panzerfaust) I would say this set is intended more for mid/late war, the type 2 smock was worn through 1944 even after the type 3 was issued (at least that's what the interwebz tells me). Probably would have been better if they had designed seperate early war and mid/late war sets but then we would be waiting until 2015-ish.

Closerlookbooks can we please get some measurements (standing figs) to see how these compare to other manufactures's FJs? Hopefully these aren't 1/76!

At last, after poor Esci, Italeri and Caesar (don't count Zvezda mini set), well sculpted German Paratroopers :-D Despite just a bit too thick boots in few cases, and strange grip of Panzerfaust, for me must have kit
PS. I also hope they're in 1/72 scale...
