Call to Arms - New 1970s British Infantry Figures

Model hobbies have a new set of 1/72 A Call To Arms figures, 1970s British infantry, its the set on PSR as British Paras, nice to see ACTAs active again, maybe they will do their ECW cavalry in 1/72 finally as well.

First, I love your username. Second, those british paras look pretty good. They would go well with the Matchbox set for depicting Falklands/Malvinas.

You might be correct. Only way to tell is to buy some and put them side by side. Those Matchbox guys are actually pretty big.

I would love it if it was true, I think these are copies of a larger set of Britians figures I had when I was younger! However I have not seen anything on PSR or anywhere else but I really hope it is true though

The jackets look more like the standard issue rather than the windproof as per Falklands but they could be modified. They remind me of Northern Ireland service esp UDR before body armour or for low intensity patrolling though the grenade throwers are not really suitable. They could be any regiment just change the beret colour. BW and Airfix do some Pigs and Saracens (Airfix/JB), Bedford MKs etc so Northern Ireland is a possibility. The other miniaturised Britains ACTA set (WWII in name but not) could provide helmet heads but they may be too small.
They are scaled down ( hopefully ) Britains Deetail Modern British Paratroops and these usually came with red berets (like MPs) rather than maroon.

OT—I'd love to see all the Britains Deetail figures scaled to 1/72. The six WW2 (NWE Theatre) British figures are some of the best Tommies ever done!

I have had the old Matchbox UK paras for a while but was overjoyed when I saw Revell was re-releasing these. I've just picked up a set, as well as the new A Call to Arms figures. These look to me like the old figures that used to come with Matchbox toys.

Anyway, there's a bit of flash on the revell and they're moulded in Revell's really soft dark green plastic. Not ideal. The only issue with the ACTA set are the SLR barrels of the crouching shooters are malformed.

But the main thing is IMO the two sets are actually quite compatible in size. Please judge for your self...
