Orion new Tankmen set

Posted by Bormac on 14 Jun 2014, 15:44

I found on Red Box site pics of box for new Soviet Tank Crew from Orion, this time from early war period (attack on Poland, Finland and operation Barbarossa). Did anyone here know something about those figures?

... Better say Armoured men
Well, they're looking not so bad on this picture, with an very simplified sculpted Italian style armour,
jackets/livery clothes, pointed salets, armets, - but one knight wears a tournament helmet  .
They could be used for English/Western Europe knights /Men at arms.
The armour looks not very defined detailed and that's a pity 'course in our days it should be possible to sculpt and cast finer features.
O.k. generally it is nice to see more 15. century stuff in this scale.

... let's wait for the PSR- report.

Greetings

Back to the headed topic.

I notice at least two Far Eastern kitted figures so add Nomonhan (Khalkin Gol) to your list. There are quite a few Japanese and Russian afvs suitable for this conflict.

A potential for a lot of unusual combinations . For example Russian tank crew figures inspecting a knocked out Japanese Ha Go. I have Orion's first Russian tank crew set and it is superb.

The Red Box figures look very nice, but I don't like that they are just 12 mounted cavalrymen. I thought manufacturers had learnt since the early HaT days that if you give 42 or 48 men, that in plastic and moulds amounts to a lot more than 12 mounted men :S . Zvezda and Italeri have learnt and given us 18 cavalrymen, and seeing again 12 seems quite few.

All the same, if I see it cheap I'll probably get it.
