Mars: Zombie pirates part II

Posted by 1Mac on 15 Jul 2014, 17:54

Upon reading a vague and rather condescending news item at PSR, I tracked down these preview pics of an upcoming set, from this Russian site.

Seems to include more actual zombie pirates and fewer nautical mutants than the last Zombie Pirate set Mars put out. Looks fun!

Oh yeah...they have some serious possibilities (I'm thinking how cool they would be invading a secluded New England town, ala John Carpenters THE FOG!) :)

Puh when I see what stuff hits the market (no offence, just can't stand all this fantasy and horror stuff)
I always hope for more historical figures.

But to see Wallachian infantry makes me smile. Several times Andy asked me why I make such crazy obscure figures which nobody is interested in like my Anamites or Chinese. Now I see a set of Wallachians about which even I haven't thought about ;-) Absolute great stuff!!

Here's the Saruman/Isengard/Uruk-hai preview pic, which I also thought was pretty cool.

By the way, anyone know what VK is? I thought it was a mini community, but it seems to be a general social networking site, and I just happened to stumble upon a particular page for hobbyists.

But on the other hand, they were my last hope that someone would make English and Spanish and Native figures for the "New World 1500s - 1600s" (yes I still want those!).

If you would take metals too and not just plastics we can produce them through our system
of wishfigures.

some exist in fact, but not "cheap plastic figures" !
except maybe "Pegasus California Mission Indians" for the native ?
and that:

http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1153
http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=642
for the English (and French! ) maybe some figures could be suitable ??
IMEX Pioneers for example ? :eh:

in metal: Hecker and Goros :

and also "CW-Miniatures":

and like Uwe said: always possible to ask him ! ;-)
(for my own, I'm ok for Native Americans ! ... but I'm always ok for some new Native ... )

I think the Europeans are simply 30YW or Early ECW types.

Image

For King Philip's war 1675 I suggest the Pilgrims too, maybe some old ECW figures could help. I remember the Les Higgins guys here - true 20mm and still available from John Cunningham

Image

More difficult are the ones from the late 16th century with no Elisabethian army done so far. So herer we have the gap.
Image
And the Spanish looked a little different from the time of the conquistatores too in 1600.

As for Indians I do not really know. Most old drawings show simply naked warriors, other show Iroqoui like 100 years later. Has anybody an idea about them?

many thanks Uwe for those useful pictures and infos !

for the indians , I've seen a documentary about the encounter with the first migrants (Mayflower) and they were depicted like Iroquois, even if they didn't have muskets and metal ornaments, weapons and tools !
Like it's an american production but shown in France on Arte, french/deutch channel, it's possible to find it in different languages, I think.

just some pictures :

can be seen on youtube but I didn't find the english version ...

very well documented! I'm impressed !

for the images: you must have the link (web or something like photobucket if you see what I mean)
then: .
If you do with pictures which are on your computer, it doesn't work .. :eh:

Maybe this set is useful to you? It is HO scale (1:87), but would maybe fit.
