new Zvezda Napoleonics?

Uwe wrote:I must say I am a little bit with Zed. It is nearly the same as with German Landsers, it is just another set of French infantry. Well, I prever French infantry to French Guards of course but more than one set for the collection is not necessary for me.

As for the Russians we have just the old Esci with questionable poses and the Zvezda Grenadiers.

A pity in my eyes is that especially a Russian manufactor should know how a Russian infantryman looked like. But this fairytail of the Kiver shako still remains.

The only manufactor which recognised the right headgear for 1812/13 is Warlord-Games

I am believing this fairytail as well. I thought the Kiver shako was still in use?? Please tell us more, if you want... :read:

Nice looking figs but :
- One more time several actions which can not be done in the same time...
- At first sight, I don't really see the difference from the previous russian artillery set...
- Barrels seems to be thin and with less details than before...

;-)

Previous sets (both french and russian artillery) are discontinued in 2015 year. And this is the main difference. 8)

I like these new sets, very fine and detailed! But really sad, that the good sets are discontinued. Must get my hands on some of the russian guard artillery.

Looking at the poses makes me think that there'll be two guns per box. And I'm still not convinced by the backpacks on them, but I can only hope they'll be easily removable (just a peg on the back, but apart from that, the uniform is done).

For the sake of validity and to prevent another canard + ever more negative bashing , here a correction of the above misinformation.
Zvezdas napoleonic infantry sets are sold for exactly the same price as all their other AoT figure sets.

Check them out at BB Toys, Hannants, Jadar or whatever is your favourite online shop.

Needles to say that these are wonderful figures, as usual.

Best Regards

Not in Russia! Here we are paying 120 russian roubles for usual infantry and 220 - for napolenic one.

Let's check together.
Hannants - https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?adv=1&product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=8280&product_type_id=1878&code=&scale_id=956&keyword_search=&setPerPage=100&sort=0&search_direction=0&save_search_name=&save_search=
Jadar - http://www.jadarhobby.pl/?currency=EUR&cPath=17_131&filter_id=73&sort=
Are £3.33 and £2.49 or 4,88 Euro and 3,38 Euro "exactly the same prices" in Europe? Here in Russia these prices seems slightly different...

Nobody but Zvezda. Look at their oficial web-site (version in Russian):
New figures - http://www.zvezda.org.ru/igry-v-soldatikov/
AoT W.W.II - http://www.zvezda.org.ru/velikaya-otechestvennaya/
Hot War - http://www.zvezda.org.ru/hot-war/
Icon Image means recommended prices for Russia:
Napoleonics - 250 RR
Usual infantry - 130 RR
Tanks small guns - 160 RR
Planes - 180 RR
Large guns and armour for HotWar - 250 RR.
So it's a politics of company, not an initiative of local shops.

You are right, it seems as if most online shops sell the napoleonic AoT sets for an distinctly higher price now.
When I wrote my earlier posting (30.12. last year, so 7 weeks ago) the price was much lower. As I said, they were between 2,69 and 3,49 Euros back then.

If thats the marketing concept of Zvezdas new managment, I'm not going to buy any nappy AoT sets in the future (or only single command ones). As nice as they may be, the price per figure is way too much then.

4 more napoleonic AoT sets are available at BB Toys now for example:

6809 - Russian Foot Artillery 1812-14
http://www.b-b-t-o-y-s.de/product_info. ... -1815.html
6810 - French Foot Artillery 1812-14
http://www.b-b-t-o-y-s.de/product_info. ... -1815.html
6811 - Russian Dragoons 1812-14
http://www.b-b-t-o-y-s.de/product_info. ... -1815.html
6812 - French Dragoons 1812-14
http://www.b-b-t-o-y-s.de/product_info. ... -1815.html

4,99 Euro each for either 3 mounted figures or 6 figures plus 1 gun!
If they would be available for around 3,- Euros, I would try the excellent looking artillery sets.
But the way it is, I'll save my money for something else instead.
I really don't understand this immense price rise!?
:(

The artillery sets look great but pricey. The poses really look natural for the loading diorama on the back of the box. I probably won't get any of these as I'm not doing Napoleonics in 1/72, but if I was I'd definitely consider getting one of the cannons.

My local price will probably be $7-8 which is high, but not awful if the kit turns out to be as nice in person as it looks on the back of the box.

As much as I love Zvezda's figures (and these look beautiful) I think these are way too expensive. The US pre-order full price is USD $8, that is USD $1.33 per figure.

Perry Miniatures French Line Infantry full price is $40 for 42 figures or $0.95 per figure. Perry Miniatures are the best 28mm historical plastics, so I think that really shows how overpriced these new Zvezda napoleonics are.

Also compare to the Zvezda big box Russian Grenadiers full price $12.50 for 46 figures or $0.27 per figure.

These prices may be acceptable for players of the AoT games or small diorama builders that may only need a small number of figures but too expensive for large napoleonic wargame units or large dioramas.
