I wonder if there will ever be any plans for anyone to release French pikemen of the Italian wars? I suppose if some of the Swiss on the market are generic enough they would work right?

I have never seen body armor on a Soviet infantryman modeled in this scale. Very cool.

For me Jinette conversions are unnecessary as the light cavalry figures contained in Caesar's Conquistador set are ideal. It's numbers that have been a problem; as I am no great fan of conversions, lacking both the skill and the patience. That's why I used metal 20mm Stradiots (the lack of top hats was unfortunate but I can live with it), I would have had a lot more of them had plastic sets been available.

This presupposes of course that the yet-to-be-released figures are any good, should be on recent performance from the folks at RB.

Redbox have published pictures of several of their News on their homepage. I need seriously to make a new budget plan. I can't post pictures with the tablet I've got at the moment, maybe someone else with better computer resources can.

Have just ordered the foot Amazons from Hannants. Stupidly excited. The Mounted Amazons are now on backorder.

Wow , what a lovely list! :love3:
The 1945 Soviet Assault Group is one of the highlights for me, but I'm also thrilled about all those 16th/17th century sets.
Haron/Orion & RedBox/Alliance seem to be in full swing at the moment. Great news!

Thanks for sharing.

So! Two boxes of ALL72020 Dark Alliance Amazons (set 1) - the Amazon Foot soldiers, arrived today from Hannants.

And they are very nice. Some flash but nothing unmanageable. I like the mix of costume - a mix of steppe people's with an admixture of bits from the edges of Greek culture. Most of the figures arearchers or they're armed in the style of peltasts, which seems to be an historically logical choice. Overall I would rate them as very nice.

I'm not sure Amazons would have a phalanx, but I am planning a Sacred Band of foot figures.
This army will also feature a contingent of helots - lightly armed slingers and skirmisher males.

This will be a colourful army - pastels and girly colours and a friend and I are looking at some 1/72 scale 'tramp stamp' tribal style tattoo decals, but I'm not sure how successful that will be.

I have a city JUST itching for those zombies to infest...and a box or two of the Amazons wouldn't hurt either.
I may be wrong, but I do believe it may be a first for this hobby; to have a complete set dedicated to just female warriors.
Ah, we live in enlightened times...

So! The Amazon Cavalry arived today, I was dubious about the horses - the one thing that makes or break a set for me. But they are full of character, good poses and nicely proportioned.

The riders are nice with good detail and some well thought out poses. Some of the archers lose a bit of detail between the bow-hand and the shoulders but other than that perfectly acceptable.
