Cancelled Caesar Items

Posted by steve_pickstock on 04 Jun 2015, 15:21

Just had a note through from Hannants to say that the Hsun Niu and Babylonians from Caesar that I had on my watch list have been cancelled.

Quite sad about that.

Hi Steve, I pressed the like button ,because you posted this info here, and not for the sad news. I`ve just come from Plastic Soldier Review, and there`s a heck of a long list on Ceasar with no details or release dates.
I`ve been going through the Chariot Sets since you made mentioned of them recently. Perhaps they might release them later, after all I presume, that they`ve spent the money producing the Masters & Moulds.BB

Perhaps someone should point out to Caesar that the Hsiung-Nu have sometimes been thought to have been ancestors of the Huns, whose name was applied* to the German military of WW1, who were the forerunners of the Wehrmacht of WW2...???

And the Babylonians are known to have used the swastika...

(* Yes, I know it was the Kaiser who originally made the comparison...)

I have had those on my watching list for a couple of years now, and tbh I wasn't really expecting them - just hoping, I'm guessing there is other stuff that has been cancelled.

I really can't say that this comes as a surprise - I had given up all hope anyhow. But I think its really a pity. The style of sculpting of Caesar is always nice, and they might have made a good complement for HäT's Huns.

Chap at PSR says today that he has been in touch with Caesar and they have denied that anything has been cancelled :-D although dates of future releases are as vague as ever...

I had that from Caesar as well the other day.

I asked about the cancelled sets and he said "I talked to our R & D team already. They will release these in future. But it's not recently." which I take to mean not in the near future.

Oh well, I suppose everything comes to he who waits.

Don't give up altogether - I never thought the Chinese Ming and Qing infantry sets would ever be produced but back in 2012, out of the blue, there they appeared in the midst of goodness knows how many WW2 Germans.

The Ming were especially welcome to me as Chinese armour and dress changed little over many centuries so they could also be used as stand-ins for Song/Sung Dynasty or Yuan Dynasty vassals with a bit of work.
