2 long awaited Preiser sets are available now!

Posted by Erich von Manstein on 04 Mar 2016, 13:09

I could hardly believe it myself, so I first checked the validity of these otherwise fantastic news before posting here.
During this week ever more onlineshops list the following two 1/72 sets as available:

72538 - "Kradschützen aufgesessen", 2x Zündapp KS 750 motorcycle with sidecar and 4 Wehrmacht riders in greatcoats.
72539 - "Kradschützen schiebend", 2x Zündapp KS 750 motorcycle with sidecar and 4 Wehrmacht soldiers pushing them.

Two highly original & extremely useful sets depicting a very common & vital part of the german reconnaissance troops during WWII.
Italeri did a good set with BMW R 75s for North Africa/the Mediterranean region a few years ago and Zvezda offers a single BMW R 12 with two generic riders within their AoT range.
Since the Hät/Armourfast motorcycles are clearly insufficient, we finally have worthwhile Kradschützen in cold weather/winter gear at hand now. :-D

This could mean that hopefully their other announced 1/72 sets will hit the shelves as well!? :winky:

A quick summary of what they've advertised in 1/72 over the last few years:
72534 - "Feldjäger Bundeswehr", modern german Military Police, 6 poses
72537 - "Flüchlinge", WWII era Refugees (set 2), 9 poses
72540 - "Angreifende Infanterie, Winteruniform UdSSR", WWII soviet winter Infantry, 12 attacking poses
72543 - "Piloten, Bodenpersonal UdSSR ", WWII soviet Pilots & Ground Staff, 8 poses
72544 - "US-Army modern, Fahrer & Aufsitzer ", modern US Drivers & Seated Soldiers, 14 poses
72547 - "US-Infanterie, D-Day 1944", WWII US Infantry, 12 attacking/disembarking poses
72548 - "US-Luftlandetruppen, D-Day 1944", WWII US Paratroopers, 12 attacking poses
72550 - "Panzerabwehr, Winteruniform", WWII german Anti-Tank Troops in winter gear, 12 poses
72551 - "Infanterie im Gefecht, Winteruniform", WWII german Infantry in winter gear, 12 combat poses
72552 - "Nahkampf, Winteruniform", WWII german & soviet winter Infantry in hand-to-hand combat, 16 poses

Pre-production pictures for any of the aforementioned set can easily be found if you search for them online. Most of them look really good and would be more than welcomed.

Best regards.

I gave up hope, the ww2 US-sets are welcome. But I'm pretty sure we won't see them in the next two years.

There are already 2 early reviews for the new sets online (in german language though):

And just for the sake of clarity I would like to mention that the prices, which are shown at the link that Peter posted, are way too expensive imho.
I bought my Kradschützen from a local model railway shop for roughly 9,- Euros each.
Keeping in mind that Preiser is primarly aiming at the H0 (1/87) market you can get their products at almost every related shop and it should be well worth checking out different online dealers to find them at an appropriate price.
