FIGZ 2016

Posted by Cryns on 09 May 2016, 17:28

Mickey Mouse, the internet is a confusing medium for me. I never know if somebody is joking or not. It would be most easy for us only to be serious all the time. But there appears a little problem:

We have a moderator called 'P' whose aim it is to have as much fun on this forum as possible. And he has many followers. So since I tried to adapt to that vision of 'P', confusion is complete.

No problem, there are different ways to make knotted willows: by proper sculpting or combining the use of real plants with additional materials.

Do I know "P"?????? :P

For a knotted willow, a good piece of thyme will do. Make that two minutes for the workshop!

Dear visitors of Figz 2016

The first 30 minutes of the scratch build model tree workshop are for all of you.
This will be a live action show.
It starts at 12:00 h.

After this show everything becomes quiet again.
And now the real workshop begins for the participants for a few hours. For the real Die Hards among you it lasts until the end of the day. Which is 17:00 h.
But that is all up to your own choice.

According to 'Dad' there will be about 8 participants in the workshop.
I bring wire, foliage, cardboard, glue, fibre, emulsion and all other stuff to build the trees with. The costs for each of you will be about 5 euro's but that also depends on what materials you choose.
I do not have all tools for you in quantities of eight.
So please have a look at the:

TOOL LIST

Please bring these tools (or some extra for your neighbour) only if you already have them at home. Of course we can share everything. But borrowing a tool from somebody that is using it means very often: waiting. So it saves time for all of us if you bring your own tools.

Most important:
- Iron wire cutter to cut steel wire
- Flat topped screwdriver (not crossed) for mixing glue and for sculpting clay or emulsion
- Two glass pots and shutters (deksels) for water and glue
- Cleaning rag
- Cutting board or worktop to protect the table you work on

And if possible:
-Scissors
-Modeling knive
-Long nosed plier flat
-Long nosed plier round
-Oil paint pig hair brushes of different sizes with (if possible) short wooden handles: we need these for applying glue, paste, paint but also as a wooden handle to twist the foot of your wire tree around.
-Paperbox minimal 15x15x20cm to transport your tree home afterwards

- Some of us have a special tree in mind and these people should bring three different pictures representing such tree:
1) Pic of the tree in winter time so you can understand how the different branches grow.
2) Pic of the tree in summer time to see the shape, size and color of the foliage / leafs.
3) A close up picture of the bark to understand its texture.

Those who have no specific tree in mind will be building oak trees for which we have pictures already for you to use.

Till sunday.

Regards,

Mr. Cryns

Sorry guys, but it is official now! I will not be present at the show this year. The ride is to long for me at this moment, and it wouldn't do good for my recovery! My health is more important for me now. I will be missing you all! And make the day a success!

This means also, no "vlaai" from me this year! Sorry for that to! :(

And don't let the members down who aren't able to visit FIGZ and post lots of pictures, here and maybe during the day on FB (we can copy them to the forum). ;-)

Have a nice FIGZ!!!! :-D
