Strelets news 4. quarter 2016

Posted by Erich von Manstein on 28 Nov 2016, 22:58

To keep up with Strelets current announcement-marathon, we could collect their almost weekly news here.

According to Plastic Soldier Review, their next batch of figures could contain:

M054 - Foot Bashi-Bazouk
M110 - Spartacus Army Before Battle
M114 - WWII Japanese Troops in Tropical Uniform
M115 - Napoleonic French Sappers
M116 - WWII Japanese Infantry in Winter Dress
M117 - Medieval English Longbowmen
M118 - English Foot Soldiers 13th-14th Century
910 - Hastings 1066: Norman Army
911 - Stamford Bridge
912 - Hastings 1066: Anglo-Saxon Army

Furthermore they announce:

M077 - Spartacus Army
M091 - Caesar Army in Battle II
M106 - US Rangers 1812
M119 - WWII Indian Infantry
M124 - Roman Auxiliaries Ranks
M125 - Roman Auxiliaries on the March
074 - WWI Austro-Hungarian Honved
129 - Napoleons General Staff 3
140 - Napoleonic Highlanders on the March
141 - Napoleonic British Infantry on the March
142 - Napoleonic Polish Infantry on the March
144 - Napoleonic Polish Infantry in Attack
145 - Napoleonic British Infantry in Attack
146 - Napoleonic Highlanders in Attack
148 - American Civil War, Pickett's Charge 1

The WWI Honved cavalry was advertised 10 years ago and quite many enthusiasts gave up their hope to finally see them one day.
All other listed sets don't share this kind of "once announced, never delivered" history and in general Strelets deliver what they promise.

Quite a list and growing.

Never saw anything from the French sappers. I am not sure if these are ready. Does anybody knows further details, maybe via facebook?

Strelets now shows a boxart for the Honved, so they will be produced after all:)

I have received today most of the new sets of Strelets - the Napoleonics, the 1066 and the Medievals. All figures are wonderful sculpted, but I have to warn you that the contents of the Big Battle-boxes are different to the figure- indication on the box-photos from Strelets.

There are no riders, horses or wagons in the Stamford Bridge- and the Hastings Anglo-Saxon Army-boxes! In both boxes are only 158 infantry!

I like personally most the English and Scottish Napoleonics which are really great and wonderful detailed. The Polish Napoleonics are also well, but with nearly 25 mm (body and head without shako!) quite long and slim. The English medievals soldiers are still more wonderful done, but in their kind and shorter length more suitable to the old Revell than the Zvezda knights. In regard of the human length in the Middle Ages the Strelets are more realistic in scale than the admired Zvezda-masterworks.

I can really recommend these sets to all ....

I have compared the Napoleonic Polish with the Waterloo 1815: there are almost 2 mm difference including their shakos between Strelets and Waterloo 1815 - and the Strelets are still more slimer.
