Hat news 2019

Posted by marc zijp on 10 May 2019, 09:26

Following the example of the Strelets News 2019 topic I think it’s wise to bundle the progression on the Hat site in one post too.

That said:
Napoleonic Hungarians.

Good evening and hopefully good news for this ACW line.
I am a bit concerned to see the crowdfunding part of the main page has disappeared.
I hope it is not bad signs because like many others I invested a bit in the British dragoons
Cheers.

The news regarding the British Dragoons is that the test shots showed some problems with the casting, specifically the swords looked too short, people wanted them fixed so the moulds are having some retooling to address the problem, hence the delay.

The disappearance of the crowdfunding section on the website probably just means that the crowdfunding for these sets is now closed. They have to close the crowdfunding at some time so that they know how many sets have already been payed for when they place an order from the factory.

Yes, I'm eagerly waiting as well! It has been ages and my Peninsular Brits are starting to complain about being saddled with only a small band of KGL Hussars.
Although seeing the nice job Marvin did on those Strelet Dragoons has me thinking I may just invest in a few of those in the meantime. :winky:

All good news, the Dragoons are well advanced and no need to worry,I think the crowdfunding page has gone because there is nothing currently being crowdfunded.

This is true. The pressure of waiting was too much. I finally weakened and went with Strelets! :xd:

Maybe you can use your direkt line to the CEO of HäT and help them to understand that after more than one and a half year, their customers are really happy to get some more news. I am not worrying about the hobby, but the Dragoons are by no means well advanced as far as I see the situation! :eh:

I am a big HAT fan but their business model seems bonkers.

The time scale of re leases let alone new issues is glacial compared to Stretlets.

I personally felt the French 1815 range was too small and incompatible with my existing HAT troops. How weird is that?

Unless a sense of urgency is injected into their mission statement they may well be eclipsed.

I personally hope not as I would like to get hold of their ACW troops before I pass.

Best wishes,

Chris

Well, I've decided to switch to Newline...at least they have everything I need all the time, and I don't need to pay a fortune for a long OOP set that comes back in stock two weeks later.

Considering they had had a long spell of not re-releasing the back catalogue, they appear to be making a good effort of it over the past 12 months. Keeps the ebay prices of sets down which has got to be a good thing for everybody.
