Posted by Erich von Manstein on 24 May 2019, 00:34

One of Linear-A's projects has been progressing towards a forseeable release now. :yeah:

022 - Villanovan Culture Warriors Set 2 (Etruscan Cavalry)

We can certainly expect the release of another announced set before.

021 - Amazons "Daughter of Ares"

Both look quite interesting. I really like the serving woman with the wine kantheros in the Etruscan set, what a great figure.

The rest look pretty good, we don't know a lot about Etruscan cavalry but these look reasonable to me. Perhaps I'd like to see an Etruscan double axe.

This is right out of the Book by Peter Conolly "Hannibal and the enemies of Rhome". Nice set! I do hope for further sets of Hannibals army. Some fighting units would be welcome.

These sets make you come into that period again! Assuming that the other masters and announced carthaginian sets will be just as good and original I really consider this.
But LinearA is a but slow/in delay with new sets?
Or are we spoiled with Strelets quick output?
Very nice. :-D :yeah:

Simply great ... I love the detail and quality of the sculpture. I wish its release was faster ...
It may be true that Strelets has got us used to it, but it is also true that Hat has taught us to be very patient ...

There are some very nice civilian figures there and a few figures that will fit right in with Iron age Britons. Very good looking set.

And you get a cool Carthagenian riding an elephant as a bonus figure. Why not?

OK, one minor beef, here's another Celtic standard bearer with a boar standard. How many boars have we got already? Can't we have a bear or a wolf or an eagle or a doormouse?

Nice set anyway.

Reason (Moccus) The boar, turns up on coins and on standards..the other animals ..not? Not as Standards that is….the doormouse..most probably never.

How many Celts with boars do we got?
Let’s have a look at PSR:
Airfix Ancient britons
Italeri gaul warriors
Hat gallic command (option boar or rooster)
I have to say I expected more.

I once counted all the ww2 soviets with the officer/nco or trooper waving (with pistol or ppsh) pose. That was by all means a lot more.

Linear-A revealed their nappy surprise set recently:
#024 - Napoleonic Prussian Landwehr Cavalry

Additionally they announced a number of further future projects:
#020 - The Minoans
#026 - Samnite Wars (new series)
#028 - The Army of Pyrrhus of Epirus Set 1 (new series)
#029 - Roman Anti-Elephant Wagon Set 1
#030 - Tarentine Horseman of Magna Graecia
#031 - Syracuse, Sicily War Set 1 (new series)

Some of their awaited figures are moving forward as well:
#013 - Hannibal Crosses the Alps Set 2 "Cavalry"
#016 - Hannibal Crosses the Alps Set 3 "Elephants"
#017 - Roman Legion Set 1
#018 - Roman Legion Set 2
#019 - Battle of Cunaxa 401B.C. Set 2
#022 - The Etruscans "Cavalry" 9th-5nd. Centuries BC Set 2
#023 - Hannibal makes a triumphal entry to Italy Set 4

Set #020 (Trajan`s Legion) seems to be deleted though?

Anyway, very happy days for the ancient buffs! :yeah:

It is certainly magnificent.
Several of my expectations are filled with the announcement.

I am convinced that I will buy several boxes of each set. Surely many boxes ...

Thank you very much Linear-a, please continue on this line.

I hope the ancient fans will buy them in big amounts. This 1/72 hobby needs a big boost.
Only Strelets is a serious manufacter now. Redbox and Hat aren’t that productive in the military.
Good thing: LinearA makes good sets!

(meanwhile I look forward to those Prussian Landwehr cavalry)
