Many of you will be aware of the recent death of Anton Derbilov, the man behind so many recent sets of figures - the Ptolemaic ranges from Linear A, Red Box's '45 range and of course, Strelets' WSS.

This is a huge loss to our hobby, not just because of how prolific he was - just guessing, but there have to be over 300 individual figures in the WSS range alone (so far!), but also because of the quality of his work.
Derbilov's command figures - officers, standard bearers, drummers and NCOs - went above and beyond as far as I am concerned, each one of them was a masterpiece in it's own right. It wasn't just his eye for detail but his sense of posing that made them stand out in the history of little plastic men.
It is a sad fact that war spares no thought for any man or his legacy, but at least Anton Derbilov has left a fine one. Here is a hope that a way is found to end this conflict and that soon all those involved - mechanic, teacher, baker, student, accountant and yes, even makers of toy soldiers - can return to their peacetime lives and carry out their trades in better times.
