Slow server?

Posted by Benno on 14 Feb 2011, 14:27

Seems my host isn't any good, even after the "fixes" they made. At this moment I don't have any solutions. I know as much about servers as most people do here... Nevertheless, I'll see what I can do.

I think your host has to seriously look at your database, I think the problem is in there.

It really shouldn't be your problem Benno, it should be your hosts. Tell them to do some performance monitoring (as if they didn't already know that their server is overworked), but at least that'll make them have to work for a living.

I'd say time to switch to another host, one that does know how to do it's business...

I must sat It has taken me unbelievably long time just to get onsite here and post this last couple of days. At first I thought it was on my end but all is ok here. I know your doing your best to correct etc. but this is getting to the point of me just giving up.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought the problems were resolved. Here the forum loads very fast. I'm sorry you're still having problems with the forum.

I've been looking and asking around and I think I do have to upgrade to my own server. I've been a bit reluctant towards this because hosting costs will then increase with 1000%. As a result I might set up a supportive membership system to cover the costs. There might also be banner advertisements...

Nothing wrong with advertisement to create some cash flow, as long as they're not the loudly screaming flash ads or ads that automatically drop down covering half the forum if you accidentally move your mouse of them.

I'm going to move the forum wednesday the 20th of July.

I got a few tips from some guys at work and the moving should go a lot quicker than the last time. In the next month I'll be doing some work on the forum. Stay tuned!

Yep...my copy of war and peace...it takes me ages to read a page....and there´s still 100´s left to go. :-D
my problem was never the slowness of page loading, it was the picture posting...I´ll see what happens later :-)
