I understand O'Brien, this set does look like it leaves some to be desired, time will tell. Also, I see a lot of good things in metal, I'm just not ready to make the leap yet.

Thanks to Mr. Pickstock for pointing our attention to these latest Caesar announcements!
Let's have a look at this fresh bunch of figure sets.

Regular sets and what I could recognize they contain:
WWII - German Soldiers & Tank Riders (34 + figures/11 poses)
Modern - Counter-Terrorist Elite Forces (30 + figures/12 poses)
Medieval - Dismounted Crusaders (34 + figures/12 poses)
Medieval - European Knights, 13th Century (34 + figures/11 poses)
Medieval - European Foot Soldiers and Archers, 15th Century (34 + figures/12 poses)

New Assembly range with "300 +" pieces per set. That could provide around 20 figures in at least 8 suggested poses I guess.
WWII - German Infantry “1943“
WWII – Fallschirmjäger
WWII - Afrika Korps
WWII - Panzergrenadiere in Winteranzug (reversible Parkas not Greatcoats)
WWII - Panzergrenadiere “Kursk 1943“ in Tarnjacke
WWII - Panzergrenadiere “Normandy 1944“ in Tarnjacke
WWII - Panzergrenadiere in Zeltbahn (Camouflage Capes)

Quality looks -as usual with Caesar- top notch.
Will be interisting to see how much they're going to demand per set & how this will compare with the costly Preiser sets. The price for regular Caesar boxes is 8,50 Euros roughly, which I think is reasonable regarding the given quality. Of course I'm expecting exchangeability with other multi-part sets as well.

These are fantastic news to me. I'm a big fan of the excellent Preiser 1/72 series for years now and I love the multi-part figures which Dragon & Caesar added to some of their guns & vehicle kits.
Now we really have some grand figures to hand to depict the constantly shifting look of THE main WWII force in different climates, periods & theatres.
During the last few years a long overdue & truly remarkable step was made to improve quality & authenticity regarding WWII figures (& other periods of course) in 1/72 plastic! Most notably Pegasus, Caesar, Zvezda & Italeri were involved. But others like Waterloo 1815 & Revell (who formed the base for a new age of quality figure production during their heyday in the 90's) should be named & honoured as well. Considering the whole bandwith of plastic-manufacturers & their output the same is true for Emhar, Imex and (partly) Orion.

All that reiterating clamour about WWII Germans in our hobby seems a bit silly to me at best.
Face it, WWII was the last major & global conflict so far and many of us have direct ancestors who were involved or affected. The whole conflict and particularly the Third Reich & its armed forces still seem to fascinate a great number of hobbyists. Therefore it is necessary to have a rich variety representing the major combatants in a satisfying depth. Many of us don't want to model & game WWII with Airfix or Hät blobs anymore.

BTW, I'm truly hoping that:
- Zvezda will do more german, soviet, BEF & 1940 french figures + equipment. What about Romanians, Finns or Poles?
- Pegasus will give us more of their excellent german & soviet sets. Still waiting for their long announced Poles.
- Caesar will never stop producing WWII subjects. French, dutch, belgian, german ... .
- Italeri will return to figure production.
...

Best Regards

Not unexpected as Caesar for the last few years mainly specialise in manufacture of German products. Looking at the assembly sets suggests that Caesar are getting either desperate for new ideas or are being very cynical as anything German sells. Pity because the whole of the early part of WW2 has mainly been ignored with the exception of the French set. :headbang:

There was once a proposed Dutch set - whatever to it? At least Zvezda has started to produce a few early British which is to be congratulated.

I've gotta fever, and there's only one cure...MORE WWII GERMANS

This is awesome news, I'm a big fan of 1/72 multi-part figures. I have one preiser kit, one of the dragon kits with figures and the caesar sig-33 kit with multi-part figures. I'm also a big fan of caesar's figures. I can't wait for these sets, hopefully I'll be able to mix and match pieces from all of these kits. Also this should help fix the one problem I have with caesar figures, there are always too many poses with submachine guns and these tend to have the worse flash.

I do have to say that the figures in caesar's sig-33 kit are made from a softer plastic than those in the multi-part kits I have from other manufacturers. The details are not as sharp as zvevda's multi-part art of tactics kits or what you see in 28mm.

I still expect they'll be better than what you get from most figure sets as Caesar's sculpting is always very good. The poses are usually very natural (as opposed to the multi-part figures from Valiant and Plastic Soldier Company which are very stiff despite being multi-part). Hopefully they make more sets in this series to cover other nations/periods.

I don't have anything against new figures, while they have a high sculpting standard and lifelike poses.
Some time ago I bought Pegasus 7510 'German 75mm infantry gun with crew', and one sprue is in softer Pegasus plastic with their fantastic figures, and the other one was in stiffer plastic with gun parts and is labeled as Caesar's. So I was hoping that the Pegasus will be the producer of the multipart figures, which would be awesome, but painted examples looks very much like existing Caesar's figures, as much the poses, wich are often awkward, as being disproportionated, just look their legs part.
So far Afrika set looks the best of them.
Caesar is trying very hard, but Pegasus Germans simply have no match in the hobby. I think that every their figure is made based on a wartime photography. Caesar is making theirs from own imagination, that is the difference, so only about 10-15 percent of their figures in a box are really fine.
I believe they will be available in a couple of months, so we will see :-)

Pegasus and Preiser both make fantastic 1/72 scale military figures but they are few and far between. The panzer46 website has been the same for over a year (coming soon - WWII Germans in Russia). In 2011 Preiser listed several new military kits (coming soon - WWII Germans in Russia, LOL), afaik none of them have ever made it to the U.S. (they've appeared on pre-order on several sites for over a year).

I agree that Caesar's historical series figures are not at the same level but they consistently release quality figures sets. While there are some awkward poses, for the most part I think the poses are very natural and I particularly like the way they sculpt uniforms. I have several sets from Caesar and they are always a pleasure to paint. Even if they reuse the same poses for the upcoming assembly kits I think they will be better than most of the sets out there, and I expect they'll release 10 - 20 more sets in the next few years whereas Pegasus might release 2-3 in that same time period, Preiser probably none

Multi-part figures in 1/72 are just what I've been waiting for! I can't wait to get my hands on a couple sets and see what kind of poses I can come up with.

I, like so many others on here, would like to see figures other than just WWII Germans. I think it's just a matter of patience, though. The Germans need people to fight. Usually Germans are the first nation picked, but then Russians, Americans, and British follow. If these new sets go over well, others will follow.

Could also probably work for Op Eagle Claw...

Anyways, like I said, it's interesting, there seems to be a mix & match of figures in this set, which is nice for a change. I'm excited about prieser's seated modern US in 1/72 though. With all of my current builds, that could really be useful.

Take care,
Austin

Ohhhh, thank you Mai Strac, and Austin

If/when I get this set, most will probably be made into conversions. Of course I could be swept off my feet and love the set, you never know with Caesar :-)
