For the zvezda official forum page ill give you what microsoft translator gave me

SERGE: Hc. Eugene-and when it will be the Russians huntsmen and the rest of the napoleonika claimed in the autumn of this year? Oh and on the eve of the anniversary of the battle where 200 str.-where and in Russia probably makes sense to increase the diversity of the subject ... with an emphasis on Russian army!

EUGENE (ZVEZDA REP):Good afternoon
For these sets difficult something definite to say. Most likely in the usual form, they will not appear and appear as mini-sets. As 61-St series

The Russian and german miniseries from zvezda does make for some good vignettes and there are real nice figures in there (German paratroops or Soviet naval infantry, soviet border guards). But the inidvidual figures is going to be more expensive.
Also I'm not that much in WW2, so I really hope, they do the Napoleonics.

No worries guys, i hate being misled and those zvezda catalouges are just that misleading. I think we will still have world class figures just signficantly less poses and value. Zvezda wants to emulate GW make tons of money and they believe wargames are the secret to huge profits. The kicker though the napleonic guys who need large armies to field in the table you will have to fork out a large chunk if you want zvezda quality and be prepared for some lackluster boring poses.

I'm still hoping it is misunderstanding in question - Zvezda so far didn't give up from any set previously announced, so I believe they will produce the 8073 'Russian Chasseurs' - Jägers or 'Napoleonic Shooters' informally, as planned before together with other planned sets.
Although it is normal that they as a company strive for a bigger revenue, more profit and further market development, it will be stupid to abandon a good business line such was their 1/72 miniatures range, with wich they take an enormous market share in the last decade.
Small sets cannot replace full sets, and that will only give a chance to their competitors like Waterloo 1815/Italeri, Pegasus and others.
I can understand that they want to enter 1/100 market, but it is improbable that they will successfully sale their Art of tactic wargaming system - have a look at Carlo Antonio's splendid work here - viewtopic.php?f=35&t=8652, there is no interest at all for this gaming system amongst our members and visitors.
It is no wonder, I don't want to buy a 1/76 figures set because of incompatibility regardless how nice they are, so certainly I will never mix my figures with 1/100 and 1/144 scale tanks etc.
There are plenty of good wargaming rules for each era on the market, and none of them as far as I know suggest mixing of scales.
So to conclude - small sets could be a nice add-ons to full sets - if they are good in realisation and represent something missing in other sets, like special characters, commanders etc.
And that is all concerning us, 1/72 collectors and wargamers.
I suggest that we make some polls here on the forum - about do we plan to try Zvezda's gaming system or not, and are we think that their mini-sets can replace full sets, and after that we can inform them about our attitude. They claim that they want to satisfy their customers.

I hope its just one colossal misunderstanding but all the facts point to 61xx sets. Remeber when zvezda was releasing once a month big box set and then just for kicks one month a year they burped out 2 boxes releases, makes for nostalgia doesnt it?. We really need to collectivise and communicate to zvezda our thoughts and i think we need to come out on force on their facebook page itll make them look bad if theyre ignoring customers , prehaps barrage their page with painted big box set mini photos??. Theyre ignoring Ian bruce so far (the last comment regarding 1/72 minis) so maybe their reconsidering or maybe they just dont care anymore. Only time will tell but its looking pretty bleak though.

Hi Shaun,
what is this discussion about ???
Zvezda also has announced their first Big Set for AoT, ok, another set of German WWII Infantry, but excellent an usefull poses. Why shouldn`t there be mor of this, even for other periods than WWII ?

And for me, as WWII-modeller, not gamer, i like the small sets very much. Not all, the small standard Infantry-sets are really not necessary for me, but russian recon, german recon, paras, russian Naval Inf., all are quite good, because of the plastic used easy to convert. I don`t like to buy big boxes out of which i can use 3 -5 Figures at all and sell the rest for half price via ebay :angry3: .
And the Pak`s, atillery - pieces, BMW R12 -

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9079

cheers oke

Hi Gumsith

The discussion has moved now that we do know that big box sets will no longer be produced, we have official confirmation on that aswell.
As for the ww2 german set that weve all seen CAD renders for its seems a good bet that it will be arriving comapny reps said so. But a great deal of doubt remains Ian Bruce queried them on that and its 2 days and silence, compared to to others wich were responded to by company reps in a time frame of a day.

Most of us who like the big box sets paint large armies or want value for our money itd be a difficult sell for most of us to say heres less and pay more. Another reason is big sets give variety of poses where as small sets for example infantry 3-4 poses hardly encapsulates a spirit of an army. Case in point probably goes out to our napoleonic friends who like large armies, they will have to instead of buying multiple big boxes to get their full compliment of officers, Ncos, musicians and various troop poses, they will be constrained with having to buy a huge amount of mini sets at signficantly higher prices.

It has alot to do with personal tastes and i am probably the small minute igsignificant miniority of people who miss the box sets but it has to be said that some people dont like this new direction zvezda is taking. There is a place for small sets, no argument here, but at the cost of big box sets its a turn for the worst.

A bit of good news Zvezda has stated that german infantry and soviet infantry are a big box green light :headbang: . One must wonder that with all of us grouping together in the last week has spurred some sort of reaction with zvezda. Oh and one other thing they are responding as time of this posting asking us to ask them more questions, now is the time fellow miniaturists lets sling away!!.
